Lewis Hamilton led from Max Verstappen and teammate George Russell as the final practice session of the weekend came to a close this afternoon as the 7-time champion set the weekend benchmark 1:12.549 around the very track where he scored his maiden victory in 2007. Verstappen, 2nd on the sheets after miserable start to the weekend, wasn’t thrilled with his RB20’s performance, citing heavy jumping as he slotted in nearly four-tenths back from Hamilton as added a tap to the Wall of Champions in the process as the final soft-tire runs of the day concluded before this evenings qualifying session.

Further down the order, Lance Stroll put in another quick time to finish 4th on the day after being 3rd in FP2, followed closely by Oscar Piasti and 2014 race winner Daniel Ricciardo in 6th. Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso ended their final session in seventh and eighth while Sergio Perez, fresh off a contract extension with Red Bull, only managed ninth quickest on the day. Ferrari seemed to struggle for pace in the final practice as both LeClerc and Sainz finished outside the top 9, with Kevin Magnussen’s Haas splitting the pair.
Canada will be a weekend to forget for Zhou Guanyu as the Chinese driver brought out the second red flag period of the weekend as he spun his Kick Sauber into the barriers in turn 1, stating that he had “…no idea what’s happening with the car…” as his struggles continued.
