Despite losing the lead on the first lap, McLaren’s Lando Norris charged back to claim victory at Zandvoort, dethroning Max Verstappen’s perfect run of victories at home. The Dutch driver and home favorite followed behind Norris by 22.896s, the largest margin of victory since the opening round in Bahrain. Charles LeClerc, having started sixth, scored an impressive 3rd place result on what was a challenging weekend for Ferrari.
Further down the field, Oscar Piastri settled for forth position having lost ground during an extended opening stint as Carlos Sainz followed him for a strong 5th place position.

Sunday’s race was a welcome return to warm and dry conditions as the lights went out. Norris fell quickly back to P2 as Verstappen launched his Red Bull into the lead before the first corner while teammate Piastri similarly fell back to the Mercedes of George Russell. As the field settled into a pace, Norris charged forward and retook the lead on lap 18, where he would stay after the round of pitstops as he claimed his second victory in 2024.
Following the top five, Sergio Perez had a strong sixth place finish that helped the Red Bull keep McLaren from closing the gap too much in the constructors championship, while Russell, Hamilton, Gasly, and Alonso rounded out the top-10
Next weekend we return to the Temple of Speed, the home of the Tifosi – Monza. The quickest circuit on the calendar, Ferrari will be eager for a victory in front of the home crowd as the grid continues to make gains on the Red Bull team during their stretch of winless races.
