Max Verstappen secured his seventh victory in 2024 on Sunday as the Dutchman held off a late charge from pole-sitter Lando Norris for what would be his 61st career win in Formula 1.

A poor start by Norris saw the McLaren driver jumped by Verstappen and 3rd place starter George Russell as the Mercedes driver held the lead through the first few laps, but the pace of Verstappen was not to be matched as he was overtaken by Verstappen on the 3rd lap and was forced to watch the Red Bull driver hold on for the victory.

HIGHLIGHTS: Relive the action from a thrilling Spanish Grand Prix as Verstappen beats Norris and Hamilton

As the lead changed through the rounds of pit stops, Verstappen maintained his control over the race as Norris closed in. Aided by poor stops from the Red Bull team, Norris was able to close down the gap to Verstappen, but as in Imola, it was too little, too late. Despite positive pace, Norris would go on to finish second to Verstappen as Lewis Hamilton secured the final podium place for his first of 2024.

George Russell, starting third, would go on to finish forth behind Hamilton ahead of the Ferrari pair of LeClerc and Sainz. Oscar Piastri and Sergio Perez – having started 11th – would go on to finish seventh and eighth as The Alpine duo of Gasly and Ocon would finish in the final points positions.
