The Championship has been thrown wide open this year after the withdrawal of Honda

We catch up with Dean Herridge to talk about the 2014 Australian Rally Championship Season.  You can find more of Dean’s work at the EngineBlockTV YouTube channel

The Championship sees a few changes for 2014, with the all-conquering Honda team exiting the sport to concentrate on their F1 effort, leaving Eli Evans out of a ride.  He will be at Scouts Rally SA in a VW while they sort out their full season ride.

Team Citroen Australia enter for the first time with a DS3 for Adrian Coppin/Tim Batten and Tony Sullins/Julia Barkley

We are also seeing a Peugeot 207 G2 for Waylon and Jobe Sims and another one for Nathan Quinn – the latter having rallied a WRC Mini at Rally Australia last year.

The Renaults are back with Tom Wilde/Bill Hayes and Scott Pedder/Dale Moscatt.

Finally, of the front runners, we see Brendan Reeves/Rhianon Gelsomino in his Mazda 2.  He was mega quick at the end of last year and after his Rally America Championship, he is eager to put an Australian title on the mantle.

The calendar features six rounds starting this weekend at National Capital Rally in Canberra.

National Capital Rally (ACT)        28th February – 2nd March
Quit Forest Rally (WA)                     4th April – 6th April
International Rally of QLD            20th June – 22nd June * subject to FIA approval
Scouts Rally SA                               1st August – 3rd August
Rally Australia (NSW)                  11th September – 14th September
Rally Victoria                                  14th November – 15th November
